They're usually extremely annoying, but the average intelligence of preps can be fun to toy with sometimes.

Now, for those that are wondering about the answer, I'll explain that right now.

You see, when you draw a cube on a piece of paper, we all understand that a cube is a 3D object. Because of this, people know that the middle of a cube is in the eye of the beholder. No more, no less. However, when drawn on a flat surface, its 3-Dimensional properties are only an illusion, but people tend to forget this, and treat it like it's still 3D. That's the trick with this puzzle. In order to find the middle, you have to treat it like what it truly is: a 2D object.
